Calicut is a beautiful coastal town, on the Malabar coast of India. Known for having one of the most beautiful backwaters of Kerala, this town is a charming place, and for reasons too many. TCalicut, now known as Kozhikode, is a historically important city of Kerala. From being an important part of India’s trade throughout history, Calicut has also seen its control change between rules, and then ultimately shifted to the British East India Company in 1792, when it was rebuilt.

Also famous for spice and coconut export, the history of the town lends it a lot of tourism friendly charm. Kozhikode is also blessed with abundant natural beauty in the form of ocean vistas, waterfalls, and of course, a network of the beautiful backwaters.

    Located on the Malabar coast of India, Kozhikode Beach or Calicut Beach is one of the top attractions of Calicut. This beautiful beach is visited by tourists and locals alike to watch the bewildering sunset. Enjoy a stroll at the beach or sit back and enjoy watching the sun setting into the ocean at the distance. If one wants to try their luck at spotting dolphins, then head here during the early hours of the morning. October to March is the best time to visit the beach.

So, as the kids have a great time at the rides, enjoy the beautiful view of the lighthouse and the beach.

    If you are in Calicut and you do not try the sweets at SM Street, then you are missing out on the sweet bliss that this coastal city has to offer. Famously known as Mittai Theruvu, Sweetmeat Street is one of those places in Calicut which deserves a visit. It is believed that Zamorin of Calicut invited sweetmeat makers from Gujarat and these shops were established back then. Located in the heart of the city, make sure you visit this street and gorge on the delicacies there.
